Role: Art Director
Duration: Feb 2023 - September 2024
BlendJet is the #1 selling brand of blenders direct-to-consumer with millions of customers around the world, and is in over 30,000 retail doors and distributed in 38 countries. My role as art director is support the brand through web design, product development, and marketing efforts.
Web Design
As art director I represent BlendJet’s visual voice to our Outsmartly partner who does the dev work to build and maintain our site. Together, with my producer we lead Outsmartly to implementing visual and user experience changes on the site.
To the right is a video showcasing a huge site map I made in Figma that identifies areas of opportunity for the site to improve.
Photo Editing
On occasion I used my photoshop skills to touch up photos for the website. These photos were originally shot by our freelancer on a plain grey background for all softgood colorways like pictured to the right. These final photos act as the hero image for each item’s product page.
Animation
Web animations I created in After Effects that were converted to APNGs.
The animation acts as a quantity indicator as a customer adds more JetPacks to their cart, the light lavender fills up until it pops with confetti when the customer qualifies for a discount.
As part of the marketing team, on occasion I am tasked creating
and sending out print ads for to various publications. They mainly
feature our beautiful photography shot by our freelancer on retainer
and copy is provided in-house by our copywriter.
Product Development
In tandem with the marketing team who became more involved with product development for the 2024 BlendJet product roadmap, I lended my skills to help streamline the workflow among my department to keep us on track. From live mocking on calls, to designing BlendJets for production, and selecting Pantones. To the right is a screenshot example of a small fraction of mockups I do on a call among my team for us to collectively narrow in our planned releases.
Work Concepts
Design work I did during my time at BlendJet that did not go to
final that I’m still proud of.
Potential Sleeve Patterns
These are a variety of patterns I made in both in Adobe Illustrator for the insulated JetSetter Sleeve that is an accessory to BlendJet 2. I created the sleeve mocks in Photoshop.
Unused Straw Packaging
A collection of straw packaging designs I made through Adobe Illustrator and Procreate on the iPad that did not go to print. I had a fun time exploring various motifs and the brand colors in various combinations.
